"Lucy"
Director of Comfort
Lucy is a two-year-old Cavapoo—a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle mix—who works alongside Virginia “Ginger” Beaty and the clinical team at Waypoint Recovery Center.
Although Lucy was the runt of her litter, she quickly proved to be the spunkiest of the group, with a personality—and a heart—much bigger than her size. From an early age, Lucy demonstrated a natural ability to recognize when someone needed reassurance or companionship. By the age of one, she had earned her therapy dog certification through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
Lucy loves visiting Waypoint, where she brings comfort, smiles, and joy to patients and staff—and even enjoys spending time with the goats. When someone is struggling, Lucy often seems to recognize it instinctively and will quietly approach them to offer affection and a calming presence. She reminds everyone that sometimes simply being there for another person can make a meaningful difference.
Outside of her work at Waypoint, Lucy enjoys shopping at PetSmart, snacking on her favorite Gooberlicious treats, and playing with her older brother Charlie, a rescue beagle, and their beloved Lamb Chop toys. She currently has a collection of approximately 50 Lamb Chops and fully intends to keep adding to it.
